Wandsworth Mediation Service (WMS), an award-winning charity based in Wandsworth SW11, is seeking a project coordinator who will help us run grant-funded training projects in Wandsworth schools. The application process is now closed. We thank everyone who applied for this position.

 
Salary terms: £20 per hour, up to 6 hours per week, 44 weeks per year

Contract: Self-employed, fixed term contract expiring on 30 June 2025.

Location: Hybrid, St. Mark’s, Battersea Rise, SW11 1EJ

Terms: The role is grant-funded. The work is flexible so you can work more hours some weeks and less hours on other weeks, but the total hours between 1 May 2024 and 30 June 2025 is not to exceed 318.

Responsibilities:

The School Projects Coordinator is a key person responsible for overseeing WMS’s school training projects from start to completion. They will play a pivotal role in managing WMS’s peer mediation training initiatives in Wandsworth primary schools. This role involves Programme planning and coordination, financial management, promotional activities, and strategic contributions. We are looking for someone who is passionate about investing into the community and willing to contribute to WMS’s overall vision and strategy.


About the programme:

The Peer Mediation Programme is a grant-funded training initiative provided at no cost to selected primary schools in Wandsworth. The goal is to train groups of pupils in each participating school as mediators, who will then help their peers resolve low-level conflicts at school. The training will be delivered by WMS trainers, under the guidance and support of the School Projects Coordinator.

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of mediation and conflict resolution.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a small team.
  • Based in the community in Wandsworth, visiting primary schools in person and blended combination of work from the WMS offices at St Mark’s Battersea Rise and from home.
  • Able to network effectively with other community organisations e.g. Peer Mediation Network, building relationships as appropriate.
  • Subject to 2 references and DBS check.
